🔐 Password Change Solutions

If you need to change your Microsoft account or work/school account password, there are multiple ways to do so based on your situation. Below are three recommended methods:

1. Change Password via signins.microsoft.com

Use this method if you know your current password and can log in normally.

Steps:

Go to https://signins.microsoft.com.
Sign in with your Microsoft or work/school account.
Once signed in, click on your profile icon (top right corner) and choose “View account.”
Navigate to “Password” under Security Info or My Account.
Enter your current password, then your new password.
Submit

✅ Ideal for regular password updates when you can access your account if you are in office or out of office.

2. Use Keyboard Shortcut: CTRL + ALT + DELETE

This method works well when you are already signed into a Windows device connected to your organization’s network or domain.

Steps:

Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE on your keyboard.
Select “Change a password.”
Enter your current password.
Enter and confirm your new password.
Submit

✅ Great for quick-key reset.

3. Use “Forgot Password” / “Can’t Access Account” During Sign-In

Use this option when you’ve forgotten your password or are locked out of your account.

Steps:

At the Microsoft sign-in screen, click “Forgot password?” or “Can’t access your account?”

2. Enter your email address and complete the CAPTCHA (puzzle verification).

3. Select the first recovery option: send a code to your Microsoft Authenticator app or registered mobile device.

4. Enter the verification code sent to your device.

5. Set a new password and confirm!

✅ Best for recovering access when you've forgotten your password or can't log in (can be done from your phone).

🔁 Tips for Creating a Strong Password

Use at least 12 characters
Include uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
Avoid using personal info (like birthdates, pet names, or your name)
Trying to replicate any recently used passwords will not work
Change passwords regularly
