Purpose: The purpose of this SOP is to outline the procedure for users on how to register with Microsoft Authenticator. This is to ensure secure, multi-factor authentication (MFA) for accessing company systems and data, enhancing overall security and protecting sensitive information from unauthorized access.

Scope: This SOP applies to all employees, contractors and third-party users who require access to the company’s IT systems, applications, or any sensitive data. It covers the entire registration process, including downloading the Microsoft authenticator app, linking it to the user’s company account and setting up multi-factor authentication. This procedure is mandatory for all new users and for any existing users who have not yet enrolled in the Microsoft authenticator system.
- Step 1: Download Microsoft Authenticator Application (Mobile Device)
- Dependent on your phone (Android or iPhone) please go to your google store or app store.
- Search for ‘Microsoft Authenticator’ and Download
- Step 2: Instructions to Register
- You will be prompted to sign in with your Aris email address followed by your password.
- It will ask if you want to stay signed in. Select yes and continue.
- Once complete, you will be pushed through to this screen.
- Select Next until the screen appears with the QR Code.
- You will now be transitioning to your mobile device. Please be sure to download the "Microsoft Authenticator" Application available on both iPhone and Android.
- Open your Microsoft Authenticator application on your phone.
- You will be prompted to sign in with your Aris Email address or you may have the ability to scan a QR code.
- *If you are unable to locate where to scan with QR code, please look in the top right corner and locate the '+' sign, select it and choose "add work or school account" > Scan QR Code*
- Please scan the QR code on your computer screen. Once scanned the camera will close on your phone.
- Return to your laptop and select Next
- To verify the process was done correctly, it will provide you with a randomized number on your end that you will need to enter your mobile device. Once complete you will be successfully set up!
- If you finish on this screen, you are successfully verified and set up.
